I did landscaping here for the summer 21 years ago: http://crockermansion.com/ and it has been restored and is for sale for a mere $25 million! http://www.forbes.com/realestate/2005/10/31/luxury-mansion-newjersey-cx_sc_1031how_ls.html

Sadly tho, the original 1000 acres, which had been whittled down when I worked there to probably 200 acres, is down to 12.5 acres and the surrounding area is now dotted with McMansions. Even if I had the money to buy the place, the proximity of all those hideous little places would really put me off. I guess I would have to buy the near ones up and knock them down, clear the peasants from their cottages in the fine old tradition of great estate owners!

If only a dense hedge could be caused to grow up 15 feet in just a year, the world would be a better place. ;)

I am mildly amused/frustrated by my planting of things which won't really be what I want them to be for 5, 10, 15 years or more.

That place had/has hedges that tall but who knows if they are there now. I and my giant hedge trimmer were intimately acquainted with them ;).

Forgot to say: the slide show at Forbes was handsome. I bet it is very expensive to heat, though....

No doubt, but as they say, "if you have to ask the price..."
