The Stacker
May. 21st, 2009 09:53 amOn our trip we visited Cornell, WI, a center of pulpwood production for the paper industry in the early 20th century. This device drew partially processed pulpwood logs up a conveyor in center and dropped them into a heap. They were then put into a watercourse that carried them across the street to the papermill. The stacker ran from 1913-1972. It is 175' long and is the only one still in existence in the world. More information may be found here.
