lucianus: (Luke 2)
Saturday 18. December

This day were mustered the foot and their companies reduced from 25 to 8, a sad discourse on how decayed are our troops by fighting, sickness and want; it hath turned bitter cold with some snow falling after dinner;I am told that Rollet, Governor of Loviers, was captured today in an ambuscado the which the enemy did lay as he was on the far side of the river, there is little love lost between he and they, for they say he is a false dissembler; there was much shooting back and forth between our guards and theirs.

Coningsby, the muster master for the camp reports on the muster and reduction of the companies, as well as the weather and the capture of Rollet.
