I know I haven't posted much lately so I thought an update on last weekend was in order. I worked all day Saturday and ended up getting quite a bit accomplished especially since there weren't any visitors to the library. I came home and picked up J. so we could go out and deliver a tapestry to J's folks that we got them for Xmas. After considerable oohing and aahing we went over to the Chinese restaurant on the corner for the buffet. (and quite a good one I might add, lots of seafood, superior crab rangoons and big, meaty fried dumplings) We went back to the house and chatted for a while then home not too late to the kitties.

We got up Sunday and walked up to the 7-11 at the top of the street and got coffee and muffins. We brought them back and ate them outside on the wooden bench in the garden. I then set to work cleaning up the basement in prep for the armorer's meeting in the afternoon. I managed to get in a bit of work on my own kit before Yaakov arrived. He had a nice coat of plates and we rooted around thru the loaner gear to find the other constituent bits to make a full harness. Casey also came and I managed to get a set of loaner stuff for him the fits him fairly well and that we packed in a duffel to keep separate from all the rest of the loaner items. I helped them both further with the padding on their helmets and then drove them home. J was just getting back from fencing when I did and we decided to go out to Doyles for a little supper because we were both beat. Afterwards it was back to the cellar to put away the armor and fold all the laundry that I had done in the morning.

This morning I decided to walk to work so I wouldn't have to drive in the slop. It was cold enough to snow but not cold enough to keep the snow solidified on my jacket so by the time I arrived at the office I was soaked but thankfully not to the skin and neither were my feet thanks to my new garish red gore-tex boots. I was again pretty productive, getting the big stack of periodicals checked in as well as all the reserve materials pulled for two Landscape Institute classes. I stayed a little later (gotta love that comp time) and then swung into the "hippy market" (all very earthy crunchy you know) to get some food to make dinner then home on the bus. When I was in there I found a nifty hemp cloth #6 cone coffee filter that I thought would work well for the evening's cheese project. J had just finished shoveling the walk and steps when I got there and when we went up to go in found the Claude had pooped in the hallway. J heroically cleaned it up and I continued up and started dinner. Tonight it was 'dish' with tofu, green and yellow squashes, fennel and cumin. The broth came out incredibly well and there are a lot of leftovers for lunch. I also started a batch of lemon cheese which is just finishing up now. Thanks tpau for the recipe! We've been enjoying it. Soon it will be set and I'll be off to bed - goodnight!
